Latest religious lunacy... Suicide by Lion
by Mandrake inyesterday, here in santiago, chile, some stupid ***** yerk tried to kill himself by entering naked to the lions cage in broad day light and while the zoo was filled with people!...
sad part is the zoo personnel had to shoot dead the lions (male and female, 22 years old)... because waiting for the tranquilizers to take effect would be the sarah of the man.... at first everyone thought it was a suicide attempt, but later they found in his garments some kind of letter stating that armageddon had come and that he is daniel the prophet and god would save him... and he signed the letter as "jesus christ".

W.T.F!!!
A whOle morning of fear mongering. All the kids will be scared like hell. There's only two ways for parents to react to that:
- Don't worry honey, it's all bull crap
- Don't worry honey, Jehovah will protect us.
Stuff like this will create another generation of anxious, stressed, fearfully dubs :-(

She displayed a literature cart in front of my house: That does it for me!
by Tempest in a Teacup inis this something they've asked them to do?
cart displays in front of their homes?
my mom is only in her mid 60s so i'm quite sure this is not an issue of mental illness.. the only illness she's suffering from is boredom since she's refused to work for years now.

JW reasoning doesn't matter here. You don't want it. End of story.
Yes. This.

Tempest,
Well done! Keep your cool while talking with her.
And whatever she says, keep returning to 'it makes me feel uneasy'.
If she asks why, you can return the question by asking: "do you respect my feelings, or not?"
If she does, ask her to act accordingly.
If she doesn't, ask her if that is according to the Golden rule...
It's not mandatory to explain our reasons for every request or demand we make. Not even to our mom. Sometimes people just have to accept our statement and act on it.

Someone anonymously tipped the elders?
by raven inso here an update on my current situation, in a nutshell i've been trying to quietly fade for the past 5 months.. well, my mom somehow found out that i am currently fading and that i live with my boyfriend (for more info on this check my previous posts) i told her yes i live with him and yes i no longer want to be a jw.
anyways, yesterday she met my boyfriend.. awkward.
and after lunch she pulled me aside to tell me that the po came up to her (he was part of my jc when i was reproved) he said to her "someone came to me and said - i cannot say who so they will remain anonymous- but that your daughter is living with someone" my mom confirmed and apparently he told her that i have one week to confess this, and if i don't my parents are obligated to tell them everything.. what kind of nonsense is that?

According to JW cult rules, they need to have 2 witnesses to a wrongdoing before they can take action.
They do have 2 witnesses: anonymous tattletale and your mom.
Result: a judicial committee will be started. You will be invited.
If you don't attend, most likely you'll be DF'ed in absentia, given that they have two witnesses to your breaking of cult rules.
If you do attend, you will be DF'ed as well unless you repent, which includes kicking you boyfriend out, visiting all meetings, and sharing all juicy sex details with the old men in the judicial committee.
I take it you don't want to kick your boyfriend out over cult rules? In fact, I hope you don't, because they have zero authority over your life.
In that case, don't attend the judicial committee as it is of no use.
Note that talking with the elders about this or attending the judicial committee is considered a sign that you still consider yourself subject to JW authority and rules, and thus increases your chance of being DFed.
If you do write a letter that states the elders, the congregation and the judicial committee have zero authority over you, and your personal life is none of their bussiness (without saying you're not a JW anymore), they might consider you faded, make a confidential record, and not DF you.
And do refer to some lawyer stuff as others mentioned: you have no authority over me, if you continue this harrrassment my lawyer will kick your ass. Or something like that.
Good luck. Hope it works out for you.
Dog I hate this cult :-(

Making fun of an elder, CO or GB'er, would it be considered brazen conduct or some other WT sin?
by oppostate inwould making fun of an elder, co or governing body member, be considered brazen conduct or some other wt sin, like apostasy?
.
is it an actionable judicial matter, even?.

@James,
They artfully dodged all further conversations with elders (JC) and moved a town over.
For some reason their new congo doesn't care I guess -

For the ones talking about a passive-aggressive behavior on my part, I wish to tell you that there's a simple reason I couldn't lash out at my mum as she told me about the cart: I have been fighting with her a lot recently. For her that kind of thing is normal and she would blame it on my temper instead of taking it as a serious issue.
Sorry for to put put highlight on this, but it is very well possible to be firm with someone, tell them what your limits are, what you do and do not accept, without shouting, being angry or otherwise showing a temper.
Yes this is very hard under some circumstances. Especially when you're tired after a long day. And for some people it's harder because they are more fiery than others.
Stop fighting with your mom.
Whenever the two of you disagree, stay calm. Be firm, but polite.
You know up front she won't understand or agree with all (most?) of what you say, so no need to be surprised about it and start a fight. Show her that you are more polite and mature than she is....but respect your own boundaries and tell her she should respect you boundaries as well.
To me it seem this is something you can improve on ;-)
Learn to say no. Just Google it...it's a start.
Disclaimer:I don't mean to bring you down by saying all of this...just want to help you out a bit.
Nuances may be lost to me because I'm not a native English speaker.
Also I don't really know you; I'm just a semi-random stranger on the internet.
Accept my apologies if I'm completely mistaken about you. -

In my former hall, a sister had a heated argument with an elder after the meeting.
She then walked through the hall shouting about how bad the elders were or something. She approached an other elder, insulted him and sort of tried to strangle him with by grabbing his tie. Her husband stood by and watched.
They got marked, not DFed.
So a joke should be no problem. Ymmv.
